How do you describe the experience I=of seeing New Earth pouring out of the ground and solidifying instantly? Here, we see the first eruption in this area of Southwest Iceland for 850 years, and I was one of the first people on the scene. I chose to juxtapose the destruction of the lava with the life of the moss: the moss that was waiting to be consumed by the lava. The smell was incredible.
